What Would You Do If You Weren’t Afraid? – Shift

It’s Thanksgiving and all the family is here. It has been a day in which I enjoythe quiet time, laughters, faith sharing and reflections. I realize and don’t take it lightly that someone else didn’t have a good day. I am definitely thankful and grateful. There is still unrest all over the world, yet for many today is a new beginning. I’ll explain.

Take some time to reflect on all the good things that have occurred for you this year. Acknowledge the bad, but don’t get stuck.  And yes, take time to reflect on all the decisions you didn’t make, and opportunities you didn’t take. I was asked a question about two weeks ago and I want to share it with you.

“What would you do, if you weren’t afraid?”

Do this simple exercise for yourself. Write down all the things you are afraid of on one side of the paper and on the other side of the paper write down, what being afraid has kept you from doing? Some of them may seem silly but they were real at the time. A few of mine were – don’t like basements, crowded elevators, people with bushy eyebrows to name a few.

Next understand that if you don’t put your fear in it’s place that you will die with all your gifts. You will not be that great local singer you desire. You won’t write that novel, that might become a best seller, you won’t mix a healthy drink that would be sold world-wide.

When you give thanks, ask for the courage to shift from your fear. Shift into another level, or shift into another gear. Why keep yourself down, and settle or wait for someone else to determine and map out your destiny? You see, fear can become an excuse, which over a period of time gets assimilated into our reality.

A friend of mine has always wanted to model, but she was afraid because she doesn’t look like anybody’s model, and that became her excuse. But recently she took the opportunity to model in a local show, and she was awesome. More importantly, I saw how her eyes lit up when she talked about how she felt. She shifted.

She affirms she will do it again next year, and I am very excited for her. But what about you. Will you move your fear aside so you can shift? Or will you go through the rest of you life constipated with all of your gifts bottled inside. There is always something to be thankful for, if nothing else acknowledge that you must shift.
