In this article we will take a look at the chronological format and also the functional format. One of the most popular resume formats is the chronological format. This format is essentially a timeline where previous work experience is listed according to when it occurred. It can either be in chronological order or in reverse chronological order.
For most people the chronological format will be fine. Of all of the resume formats available, the chronological one offers the ability to show how you have progressed in your career. The work experience listed on the resume is done so as a timeline so it is very easy to see when a job seeker has started out at one level and advanced to another level during the course of his work experience.

There are some people who may want to turn to the functional format for their resume. In general any of the resume formats can work well for you as long as you also make sure the information on your resume is well written. It should be free of spelling and grammatical errors. You should also make sure the content clearly conveys the intended message. Although the format of your resume can certainly get you noticed, it will not get you a job unless you also clearly demonstrate you have the skills needed for the job.
