It’s Friday – Good Grief

Another Friday has come. You thought you would have found the job of your dreams by now. But everybody you know is also looking. Stop and debrief your activity for the week.  On Monday, you had two interviews. Tuesday you decided it was nice outside, so you would take care of some things. Wednesday, you rushed to this interview, but cannot understand why you were even rushing. Oh, you forgot your cell phone. Thursday you waited for a call from your interviews on Monday. After all, they said they would be contacting you via phone for the next step. “Darn”, you say to yourself – my cell phone isn’t on my resume. Friday has come and you have one more interview today. That’s all you have lined up so far.

Okay, now lets’ see how next week can be an improvement. First, get a calendar so you can plan your time. You need to be committed to your job search, and therefore need to dedicate some time. Time will get away from you, if you don’t manage it. Don’t let others encroach on your job search time. It’s easy to happen. Everyone assumes you are available to take care of their needs while you look for a job. However, looking for a job is a_____. JOB. Make yourself a checklist of the things you need for each interview and put them in a specific place each time so they are ready. Get your clothes ready the night before. That means identify what you are wearing, down to the underwear; iron whatever if necessary. Ladies if you wear make-up, put it out. All you have to do in the a.m. is shower, dress, grab your stuff and go. Conclusion – You will be less stressed and able to focus mentally on the task ahead.
