Job Interviews Are A Job
Job interviews can feel like a job. You have to go through all this stuff, just to be rejected or maybe not.

You shake hands

You smile

You wait to be told to sit down

You try to remember everyone’s name, but it’s a blur.

You practice being professional, whatever that is.

You don’t want to listen to all this company stuff, you just want them to give you the job description, so you can check off everything you can do, are skilled at, hand it back to them, and for them to tell you, that you are hired.
Only, if it were that simple. Yes, job interviews can be a job that requires some time to be acquainted with the rules of engagement. So stop whining and start writing. It doesn’t matter that your job search is hard; after all, you need a job. By answering the next few questions, you can focus on maintaining your job interview “Mojo”, like Austin Powers and get the results you desire.
- Who are you? (your work bio, ethics, values)
- What kind of environment are you coming from compared to the company for which you are interviewing?
- What is your life experience and work experience?
- What about your prior job you liked and disliked? Write it out on a piece of paper
- What are your short-term and long-term objectives?
- What is your life’s purpose?
- What do you want from your next job? Or, how will you know it is the right job?
- Which factors are important and why? (pay, career advancement options, scope of benefits, company stability and plans for growth, etc.?
Okay, let me connect this for you. The job interview is a two way process. It’s not just about the gain by the employer but about your gain as well. The answers to these questions, will give you more clarity in understanding what type of position you are shooting for, help you during an actual interview, and give you some direction for your life success. So yes, the job interview has the lowest starting salary with the highest potential for advancement. So, get after it.
